Oral and facial surgeon expands practice to include med spa services

PRESQUE ISLE, Maine — Twenty years after opening Northern Maine Oral and Facial Surgery Center on Academy Street in Presque Isle, Hank Ford, a certified oral and maxillofacial surgeon, has begun to also offer spa-related services to folks in central Aroostook.

Ultra Body Contour Med Spa, located in the same building as Ford’s surgical practice on 181 Academy St., began serving clients in August.

While the procedures that Ford performs at Northern Maine focus on both medical and cosmetic surgeries related to the mouth, teeth and facial area, Ultra Body aims to create a relaxing environment for clients and offer non-surgical treatments such as facials, skin peels, acne clearing, spray tans, waxes, laser tattoo removals and back treatments.

Ford noted that Ultra Body is the first spa facility in Maine to offer technologies known as UltraSlim and UltraSmooth. UltraSlim uses a process called lipolysis to drain fat cells, which are made up of water, to give patients immediate fat loss. UltraSmooth uses similar body contouring techniques but also reduces the appearance of cellulite.

Ford purchased the building on 181 Academy St. after Aroostook Urology left the space. He has been able to add 2,500 square feet to the already 5,000-square-foot space that his surgical practice occupied.

Spa director Misty Walton said that Ultra Spa has gained great support from clients since opening, who appreciate having such services north of Bangor.

“We hope to offer something for everyone regardless of their age or gender and to expand our services in the future,” Walton said.
